We are Maryland Kalos

kalos (Greek: καλός) n. beautiful, as an outward sign of the inward good

Kalos (originally named Chrysalis) evolved from the Emmaus movement to provide for the development of young church leaders. It calls young adults to seek a dynamic friendship with God through Christ, that they might be nurtured and grow into a mature relationship with Christ. The focus of the Kalos Community is not itself, but the local church.

Maryland Kalos holds 3 retreats a year: in February and August for high school students and in July for young adults.

Kalos is overseen by an elected board. Click here to contact our board.
Kalos has a mother organization that holds retreat for adults. Click here to learn more about 7 Mile Walk With Jesus.

Kalos is supported in its mission by individuals and families who generously give so that we can provide scholarships for students and team members who would otherwise not be able to attend a weekend. Keilan (age 18)

Just a year before my original weekend my brother passed away. I was lost and started straying from my faith. If it wasn’t for Kalos completely turning my life around and renewing my faith in Jesus, I don’t know where I would be.

Molly (age 17)

God called me to this community when I was really lost and gave me a home with some of the most compassionate people I’ve ever met. For the first time, I felt like He was fully present. That joy is what keeps me coming back! I love Kalos with all my heart for how it has changed me for the better.

Upcoming Weekends

Kalos 91 has presently been cancelled. We were unable to get enough community support to build a team for this weekend.

To attend a Kalos gathering, a caterpillar must be sponsored by a member of the community that has attended a 4th Day Workshop. Workshops are held 2 or 3 times a year within a few weeks after weekends, but you can also attend a 7 Mile Walk With Jesus (formerly Emmaus) 4th Day Workshop.

Click here to download the 4th-day permission slip.

If you are interested in attending a weekend but do not have a sponsor contact our board.
